Cundinamarca State

Cundinamarca State was one of the states of Colombia. It was created on 15 June 1857 as Estado Federal de Cundinamarca (Federal State of Cundinamarca), in 1858 was recognized as Estado de la Federación,[https://archive.today/20120629090155/http://www.cervantesvirtual.com/servlet/SirveObras/01477398877125528632268/index.htm Cervantes Virtual: Constitución de la Confederación Granadina de 1858] and in the constitution of 1863 renamed as Estado Soberano (Sovereign State of Cundinamarca) of the United States of Colombia.[http://arquivo.pt/wayback/20091004113857/http://www.cervantesvirtual.com/servlet/SirveObras/07030730122947295209079/index.htm Cervantes Virtual: Constitución política de los Estados Unidos de Colombia de 1863] It was abolished in 1886.

With the law of 15 June 1857, the state was divided into 8 departments, but in 1858 most were abolished, leaving only Bogotá Department, Neiva Department, Mariquita Department, and San Martín Territory.Geografía Física y Política de la Confederación Granadina: Estado de Cundinamarca y Bogotá, Obra dirigida por el General Agustín Codazzi, 2003
Later in 1861, Mariquita Department and Neiva Department were separated to form Tolima State.

- Zipaquirá Department (capital Zipaquirá)
San Martín Territory, capital in Villavicencio, was in Bogotá Department but under administration of the national government.
