Cyanoderma is a genus of passerine birds in the Old World babbler family Timaliidae. Many of these species were formerly placed in the genus Stachyris
Taxonomy
A molecular phylogenetic study published in 2012 found that the genus Stachyris was paraphyletic. In the subsequent reorganization to create monophyletic genera, the genus Cyanoderma was resurrected to accommodate a group of species formerly assigned to Stachyris.{{Cite journal | last1=Moyle | first1=R.G. | last2=Andersen | first2=M.J. | last3=Oliveros | first3=C.H. | last4=Steinheimer | first4=F.D. | last5=Reddy | first5=S. | date=2012 | title=Phylogeny and biogeography of the core babblers (Aves: Timaliidae) | journal=Systematic Biology | volume=61 | issue=4 | pages=631–651 | doi=10.1093/sysbio/sys027 | pmid=22328569 | doi-access=free }}{{cite web| editor1-last=Gill | editor1-first=Frank | editor1-link=Frank Gill (ornithologist) | editor2-last=Donsker | editor2-first=David | editor3-last=Rasmussen | editor3-first=Pamela | editor3-link=Pamela Rasmussen | date=August 2022 | title=Babblers & fulvettas | work=IOC World Bird List Version 12.2 | url=http://www.worldbirdnames.org/bow/babblers/ | publisher=International Ornithologists' Union | access-date=23 September 2022 }} The genus Cyanoderma had been introduced in 1874 by the Italian zoologist Tommaso Salvadori with chestnut-winged babbler as the type species.{{ cite journal | last=Salvadori | first=Tommaso | author-link=Tommaso Salvadori | year=1874 | title=Catalogo sistematico degli uccelli de Borneo | language=Italian, Latin | journal=Annali del Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Genova | volume=5 | pages=1–380 [213] | url=https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/29877039 }}{{ cite book | editor1-last=Mayr | editor1-first=Ernst | editor1-link=Ernst Mayr | editor2-last=Paynter | editor2-first=Raymond A.
