The Cystofilobasidiaceae are a family of fungi in the order Cystofilobasidiales. Phylogenetic analyses shows that this family is clearly distinct from other yeast-like families of the Tremellomycetes.{{cite journal |vauthors=Sampaio JP, Gadanho M, Bauer R |year=2001 |title=Taxonomic studies on the genus Cystofilobasidium: description of Cystofilobasidium ferigula sp. nov. and clarification of the status of Cystofilobasidium lari-marini |journal=Int. Additional genera previously referred to the Cystofilobasidiaceae are now placed in the Mrakiaceae.{{cite journal |vauthors=Liu XZ, Wang QM, Göker M, Groenewald M, Kachalkin AV, Lumbsch HT, Millanes AM, Wedin M, Yurkov AM, Boekhout T, Bai FY |year=2015 |title=Towards an integrated phylogenetic classification of the Tremellomycetes |journal=Studies in Mycology |volume=81 |pages=85–147 |doi=10.1016/j.simyco.2015.12.001|doi-access=free |pmid=26955199 |pmc=4777781 }}
