Dalophis obtusirostris is an eel in the family Ophichthidae (worm/snake eels).{{FishBase|Dalophis|obtuirostris|month=June|year=2024}} It was described by Jacques Blache and Marie-Louise Bauchot in 1972.Blache, J. and M.-L. Bauchot, 1972 [ref. 304] Contribution à la connaissance des poissons Anguilliformes de la côte occidentale d'Afrique. 13e note: les genres Verma, Apterichthus, Ichthyapus, Hemerorhinus, Caecula, Dalophis avec la description de deux genres nouveaux (Fam. des Ophichthidae). Bulletin de l'Institut Francais d'Afrique Noire (Sér A) Sciences Naturelles v. 34 (no. 3): 692-773. It is a tropical, marine eel which is known from the eastern Atlantic Ocean, including Mauritania and Senegal. It inhabits estuaries and forms burrows in sand or mud. Males can reach a maximum total length of 38.8 centimetres.
