Dandini (character)

{{Short description|Character in the opera La Cenerentola by Rossini}}

Dandini is a character in the opera La Cenerentola by Rossini and also in the Cinderella pantomime. He is the male servant of the Prince (the principal male character: Don Ramiro in the opera, commonly Prince Charming in the pantomime). Dandini helps the Prince to meet the principal female character (known as Angelina or Cinderella) without her knowing that he is a prince. Dandini pretends to be the prince and the real prince pretends to be his servant.{{cite web |url=https://www.thoughtco.com/la-cenerentola-synopsis-724258 |title=La Cenerentola Synopsis |last1=Green|first1=Aaron|date=17 March 2017 |website=www.thoughtco.com |access-date=10 December 2018 }}{{cite web |url=https://wno.org.uk/archive/2018-2019/la-cenerentola-rossini#synopsis |title=La Cenerentola Rossini's Cinderella: Synopsis|author= |date=2018 |website=wno.org.uk |publisher=Welsh National Opera|access-date=10 December 2018}}{{cite news |last=Cox |first=John |date=18 June 2012 |title=Glyndebourne 2012 – La Cenerentola synopsis, cast and creatives |url=https://www.theguardian.com/music/2012/jun/18/glyndebourne-2012-la-cenerentola-synopsis |work=The Guardian |access-date=10 December 2018 }}
