Darius L. Bancroft

Darius L. Bancroft was an American politician. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly.

Biography

Bancroft was born on February 15, 1819, in New Berlin, New York.{{cite web|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=De1CAQAAMAAJ&q=John+Dunn%2C+Jr.%2BWisconsin%2BAssembly%2Bbiography&pg=PA458|title=Official Directory.|year=1874|publisher=The Legislative Manual of the State of Wisconsin|accessdate=2015-06-12}} On September 3, 1843, he married Sarah Merriam.{{cite web|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=CAMrAQAAMAAJ&q=Darius+L.+Bancroft%2BWisconsin&pg=PA638|title=The History of Dodge County, Wisconsin|year=1985|publisher=Chicago: Western Historical Company|accessdate=2015-06-12}} They would have nine children. Bancroft settled in Chester, Wisconsin, in 1845.

Career

Bancroft was a member of the Assembly during the Sessions of 1852 and 1874.{{cite web|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=bhVWAAAAMAAJ&q=Darius+L.+Bancroft%2BWisconsin%2B1854&pg=PA121|title=Calling the Roll of Wisconsin Legislators|year=2007|publisher=Wisconsin Blue Book|accessdate=2015-06-12}} Additionally, he was Superintendent of Schools, Town Clerk and Chairman of the Town Board of Chester. Originally a Whig, he later became a Republican.
