Dasyleptus is an extinct genus of wingless insects in the order Archaeognatha, and the only member of the family Dasyleptidae. They resembled their modern relatives and had a single lengthy filament projecting from the end of the abdomen. They also had a pair of leg-like cerci and some non-ambulatory abdominal appendages. The largest specimens reached {{convert|30|mm|in}} or more, not counting the length of the filament.{{cite book |author= Hoell, H.V. |author2= Doyen, J.T. |author3= Purcell, A.H. |name-list-style=amp |year=1998 |title=Introduction to Insect Biology and Diversity |edition=2nd |publisher= Oxford University Press |page= 321|isbn= 0-19-510033-6}} Dasyleptus was formerly placed in its own extinct order, Monura, but this is now treated as a suborder of Archaeognatha.{{cite journal|last1=Bechly|first1=G.|last2=Stockar|first2=R.|year=2011|title=The first Mesozoic record of the extinct apterygote insect genus Dasyleptus (Insecta: Archaeognatha: Monura: Dasyleptidae) from the Triassic of Monte San Giorgio (Switzerland)|journal=Palaeodiversity|volume=4|pages=23–37|url=https://bechly.lima-city.de/Palaeodiversity_4_BechlyStockar.pdf}}{{Cite web |publisher=The Paleobiology Database |title=Suborder †Monura Sharov 1957 |url=https://paleobiodb.org/classic/checkTaxonInfo?taxon_no=193852&is_real_user=1 |access-date= 26 November 2020}}
