Broadcasting
On the show Dual Survival, Canterbury demonstrated various survival skills, such as how to cauterize an injury using gunpowder and fire. He intentionally sliced open his own arm and then had his co-host, Cody Lundin, use this technique to stop the bleeding.{{cite news | author=Ito, Robert | date=September 4, 2011 | url=https://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/la-xpm-2011-sep-04-la-ca-survival-shows-20110904-story.html | title=Roll cameras: Now eat the freshly killed wildebeest | work=Los Angeles Times | access-date=2012-08-06}}
In 2012 the producers decided Canterbury would not be returning to the show when it was found that he lied about his military record.{{Citation needed|reason=Citations only document resume embellishment, they do not reference his military record|date=July 2024}}{{cite press release|title=Cody Lundin Announces Dual Survival Changes |url=http://www.codylundin.com/wordpress/cody-lundin-press-release/ |date=June 13, 2012 |access-date=2012-08-02 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120804120942/http://www.codylundin.com:80/wordpress/cody-lundin-press-release/ |archive-date=2012-08-04 }}{{cite news | author=Dillard, Mechele R. | date=July 7, 2012 | url=http://www.huliq.com/10473/dual-survival-coming-back-season-three-no-dave | title=Dual Survival coming back for Season Three, but no Dave | publisher=HULIQ | access-date=2012-08-03 | archive-date=2012-07-19 | archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120719065057/http://www.huliq.com/10473/dual-survival-coming-back-season-three-no-dave | url-status=dead }}{{cite AV media|people=Dave Canterbury |year=2013 |title=Discussing DS |url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDmRrJ-GdUA |access-date=January 6, 2013 |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130106073457/https://www.youtube.com/watch?client=mv-google&gl=US&hl=en&feature=related&v=BDmRrJ-GdUA&rl=yes |archive-date=January 6, 2013 }}
