David Baldwin was an engineer and inventor who patented various machines from the 1830s to 1870s.Scientific American 1890 "We have received several communications from Mr. David Baldwin, of Midland Park, NJ, who, as far back as 1871, had worked in the same direction. He claims to have succeeded in producing a cellulose fiber which he combined with tannic ..." The Commissioners of patents' journal Great Britain. Patent Office - 1876 "David Baldwin, of Midland Park, NJ, for " Motors for light machinery." — Application filed 24th October, 1874. Brief.—" The machine is actuated by means of the weight of the operator applied by means of the seat." Claim."
