Artistic career
David Booker's works consist of monumental sculptures and original pencil drawings. His first solo exhibition was in 1983, in the main foyer, Central railway station, Sydney. Since then, he has continued to show his sculptures in collective and solo exhibitions, focusing on the integration of his themes in special architectural urban settings in Italian cities of art and in contemporary buildings.{{cite journal |last1=Baldrighi |first1=Luciana |title=David Booker, l'ecodesign in un castello di carta |journal=Il Giornale |date=8 May 2010 |url=https://www.ilgiornale.it/milano/david_booker_lecodesign_castello_carta/08-05-2010/articolo-id=443847-page=0-comments=1 |access-date=6 October 2010}}
He also has been exhibiting pencil drawings from that time. The still-life pencil drawings on paper are drawings of boxes and used packaging he collects from recycled rubbish. These found objects are grouped together in different positions before they are drawn.{{cite web|last=Melandri|first=Martina|title=Cartoni come scatole magiche: è l'arte di David Booker.|url=http://www.recensito.net/pag.php?pag=6284|work=Recensito.net|accessdate=28 April 2010|language=Italian|date=28 April 2010|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150716222643/http://www.recensito.net/pag.php?pag=6284|archive-date=16 July 2015|url-status=dead}}
David Booker's drawings are a real celebration of the recovered element. Cartons, boxes and mechanical parts were chosen and taken from the recycling containers to be drawn in large compositions in pencil, graphite and pastels. David Booker uses light and shadow to reveal the beauty of these materials, unexpected because completely ignored in everyday life. In an absolutely original way, these wastes are recycled once again, and this time forever: removed from their context of use and portrayed from life, those who were humble objects and discarded materials appear in their uniqueness, protagonists with their own personality.{{cite web |last1=Comieco |title=Onde di cartone - Disegni a matita di David Booker |url=https://www.comieco.org/onde-di-cartone---disegni-a-matita-di-david-booker/ |website=Eventi |publisher=comieco.org |access-date=29 April 2021}}
