Early life
David Hepher was born in Surrey. He studied at Camberwell School of Art{{cite web|url=http://transpont.blogspot.com/2010/01/david-hephers-beautiful-tower-blocks.html|title=Transpontine: David Hepher's beautiful tower blocks|date=22 January 2010 |accessdate=13 December 2011}} and then at Slade School of Art.
He later became a Senior lecturer in painting at Chelsea School of Art from 1981 to 1990. Since 2001 he became a professor and head of undergraduate painting at Slade School of Fine Art.

Career
