Gabunia has twice won the Duruji Award ({{Lang|ka|თეატრალური პრემია „დურუჯის“}}) for the best new play of the year, as well as the SABA award (საბა (ლიტერატურული პრემია)) for best drama for his play Plays ({{Lang|ka|პიესები|italic=no}}).
