Oklahoma House of Representatives

Davis authored House Bill 2011 that would allow for vehicles to be registered every two years. It passed the house in March 2023.{{Cite news |author= |date=March 13, 2023 |title=House passes Davis Bill to allow vehicle registration every two years |work=Guthrie News Page |url=https://guthrienewspage.com/house-passes-davis-bill-to-allow-vehicle-registration-every-two-years/ |access-date=March 27, 2023}} In 2020, he was re-elected by default.{{Cite news |last=Savage |first=Tres |date=2020 |title=More than 40 Oklahoma legislators re-elected by default |work=NonDoc |url=https://nondoc.com/2020/04/10/46-oklahoma-legislators-re-elected-by-default/}}

=Criminal charges=

In August 2019, Davis was arrested by Broken Arrow police for driving while intoxicated, speeding, and obstructing an officer.

After being arrested, Davis called Representative T. J. Marti of Broken Arrow for bail and also called several other Republican representatives, expressing his confidence that the district attorney would drop charges once he spoke with them.{{Cite news |last=Savage |first=Tres |date=August 20, 2019 |title=In jail call, Rep. The charges were later deferred, allowing him to plead no contest in exchange for six months probation.

Shortly after his probation expired in March 2023, he was arrested outside an Oklahoma City bar for public intoxication. During the arrest, he claimed legislative privilege prevented the officer from arresting him due to the ongoing legislative session.{{Cite news |last=Savage |first=Tres |date=March 24, 2023 |title=‘You can’t detain me’: Six months after DUI deferral, Rep. House Minority Leader Cyndi Munson later called for Republican lawmakers to be held "equally accountable", contrasting the cases of Davis, Ryan Martinez, and Terry O'Donnell (who were each facing criminal charges) with the censure of Representative Mauree Turner.{{Cite news |date=23 March 2023 |title='Last night has become a story': Broken Arrow Rep. arrested for public intoxication |work=Fox 25 |url=https://okcfox.com/news/local/last-night-has-become-a-story-broken-arrow-rep-arrested-for-public-intoxication-dean-davis-arrest-oklahoma-city-police-department-okcpd-ocpd-dui-driving-under-the-influence-oklahoma-county-detention-center-ocdc-nolo-contendere-okc-march-23-2023}}{{refn|group=note|name=first|Turner had been censured for sheltering a protester from police; reporting was divided on whether the protester hit the officer, or if the officer grabbed the protester, threw them to the ground, and attempted to pin them.{{cite news |last=Factora |first=James |title=Nonbinary Oklahoma Legislator Mauree Turner Censured for Protecting Trans Protester |url=https://www.them.us/story/mauree-turner-censured-oklahoma |access-date=12 June 2024 |work=Them |date=March 9, 2023}}}} Davis was later censured on March 27.{{cite news |last1=Denwalt |first1=Dale |title=Oklahoma House censures representative who claimed police couldn't arrest him |url=https://www.oklahoman.com/story/news/2023/03/27/oklahoma-house-member-censured-after-arrest-for-public-intoxication/70054010007/ |access-date=28 March 2023 |work=The Oklahoman |date=March 27, 2023}}
