Musical career
One origin for Never's stage name is that it comes from a joke on social media about a nonexistent person who likes one's posted photos. An alternative origin is that the stage name was invented by her sister, who goes by the name Esther Never. She began sharing demos online in 2017. She released her first single, "mr nobody," in 2018. She signed to the Los Angeles-based label and musical collective WEDIDIT in 2019. She released her first extended play, House on Wheels, that same year.{{Cite web |last=Daw |first=Stephen |date=August 30, 2019 |title=Deb Never Breaks Down Debut EP ‘House on Wheels’, Reveals How Brockhampton Collab Came About |url=https://www.billboard.com/culture/pride/deb-never-brockhampton-house-on-wheels-interview-8528798/ |access-date=March 4, 2025 |website=Billboard |language=en-US}}{{Cite web |last=Ricciardi |first=Angela |date=September 13, 2019 |title=Deb Never Puts on a Front |url=https://officemagazine.net/deb-never-puts-front?page=99 |access-date=March 4, 2025 |website=Office Magazine |language=en}} In 2020, she released a project entitled Intermission, which she recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic and exclusively released on the platforms Bandcamp and SoundCloud.
