Denis Piel is a French photographer and film-maker. He was born in France in 1944. He was raised in Australia{{cite book|title=American Photo|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=R4UzETDM5ccC&pg=PA48|pages=48–49|issn=1046-8986}} and educated in the United States. He lives in the south-west of France. He worked as a fashion photographer in the 1980s; from 1979 he was under contract to Condé Nast.{{cite web|url=http://observer.com/2012/09/model-behavior-denis-piel-has-a-way-with-women/|title=Model Behavior: Denis Piel Has a Way With Women|website=The New York Observer |date=11 September 2012|publisher=}} He stopped taking fashion and advertising photographs in about 1990, and started a film company called Jupiter Films writing and directing TV commercials.
