Deposing Nathan is a 2019 young adult fiction book by American author Zack Smedley (born 1995).

Author

Smedley was born in 1995 in Southern Maryland and attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he earned a degree in chemical engineering.{{Cite web|date=2019-09-13|title=Part-Time Novelist Wins New York Times Praise|url=https://magazine.umbc.edu/part-time-novelist-wins-new-york-times-praise/|access-date=2021-07-06|website=UMBC Magazine|language=en-US}} He wrote his first full manuscript in eighth grade{{Cite web|last=Vee|date=2019-12-06|title=YA Pride Issue #2 - The Power of Teens|url=http://www.yapride.org/2019/12/ya-pride-issue-2-the-power-of-teens/|access-date=2021-07-06|website=YA Pride|language=en-US}} and began querying it at the end of his junior year of high school, to which it was "rejected unanimously." Smedley cycled through several more projects before writing what would become his debut novel, Deposing Nathan, during his senior year of college.
