The Detour Tour was the thirteenth concert tour by American recording artist Cyndi Lauper. The tour supported her eleventh studio album, Detour.{{cite web|last1=Wolf|first1=Colin|title=Cyndi Lauper is coming to Dr. Phillips this summer|url=http://www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/archives/2016/03/07/cyndi-lauper-is-coming-to-dr-phillips-this-summer|website=Orlando Weekly|accessdate=March 7, 2016|date=March 7, 2016}} The tour began May 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee and continued with shows in North America and Europe.
Background
In March 2016, it was announced Lauper and Boy George were co-headlining shows in the United States.{{cite web |url=http://www.out.com/popnography/2016/4/29/cyndi-lauper-takes-country-music-detour |title=Cyndi Lauper Takes a Country Music 'Detour' |last1=Garner |first1=Glenn |date=April 29, 2016 |website=Out |accessdate=May 10, 2016}} Later in the month, the singer revealed a full tour and announced her album. The tour features shows in the United Kingdom, her first since over five years. For the first leg of the tour, ticket sales were good, prompting a second round of dates in the U.S. When describing the vibe of the tour, Lauper stated:
"When I was a really young kid, country music was pop music, so this is what we grew up listening to. These songs are part of some of my earliest memories, so it has been an absolute thrill to revisit them."{{cite web |url=http://tasteofcountry.com/cyndi-lauper-detour-tour-2016/ |title=Cyndi Lauper Announces Detour Tour, Kicking Off at the Historic Ryman|last1=McClellan |first1=Laura |date=March 28, 2016 |website=Taste of Country |publisher= |accessdate=May 10, 2016}}
