Dexter Macham Patterson (born 18 August 2003) is a British racing driver currently competing in the British Touring Car Championship for ROKiT Racing with Un-Limited Motorsport. He was a member of the Sauber Junior Team from 2019 until early 2021.
Career
= Karting =
Patterson started competition karting in 2011 at the Trent Valley Kart Club. From there he moved onto national championships, winning the Super 1 National and Formula Kart Stars series in 2015 and achieved victory at the Kartmasters British Grand Prix in 2016 in the Rotax Mini Max class. 2017 would become Patterson's most successful year to date: the Scot triumphed in the Trofeo delle Industrie and won the Junior Karting World Championship on his first attempt.{{Cite web|title=Britons Keirle, Patterson become 2017 karting world champions|url=https://www.motorsport.com/kart/news/britons-keirle-patterson-become-2017-karting-world-champions-957481/3048406/|access-date=2021-07-22|website=www.motorsport.com|language=en}} He then raced in karts for two more seasons, with a notable success being victory in the WSK Super Master Series in 2019.{{Cite web|title=WSK Official Site - World Global System|url=http://www.wskarting.it/news.asp?id=743|access-date=2021-07-22|website=www.wskarting.it}}

In 2020 Patterson made his single-seater debut with a one-off appearance in the first round of the Formula 4 UAE Championship with Xcel Motorsport.{{cite web|last=Allen|first=Peter|date=January 6, 2019|title=Dexter Patterson to make single-seater debut in F4 UAE with Xcel Motorsport|url=http://www.formulascout.com/dexter-patterson-to-make-single-seater-debut-in-f4-uae-with-xcel-motorsport/58444|work=FormulaScout|accessdate=January 6, 2019}} Despite his lack of experience the Scot managed to finish all three races in the points, and ended up twelfth in the standings.{{Cite web|last=Waring|first=Bethonie|date=2020-01-10|title=Francesco Pizzi takes hat-trick of UAE F4 victories on debut|url=https://formulascout.com/francesco-pizzi-f4-uae-wins-debut/58577|access-date=2021-07-20|website=Formula Scout|language=en-GB}}
Patterson's main campaign for that season would lie in the Italian F4 Championship, where he would partner Jesse Salmenautio and fellow rookies Zdeněk Chovanec and Sebastian Øgaard at Bhaitech.{{cite web|date=25 June 2020|title=Patterson joins BhaiTech Racing for 2020 Italian Formula 4 season|url=https://mailchi.mp/bhaitech/bhaitech-2020-season-3914014|access-date=25 June 2020}} He had a successful first round at Misano, where he got points in all three races, and he finished ninth in the following race at Imola.{{Cite web|last=Waring|first=Bethonie|date=2020-08-02|title=Francesco Pizzi holds off Mini at Misano to take Italian F4 lead|url=https://formulascout.com/francesco-pizzi-holds-off-mini-at-misano-to-take-italian-f4-lead/65710|access-date=2021-07-20|website=Formula Scout|language=en-GB}}{{Cite web|last=Suttill|first=Josh|date=2020-08-29|title=Ugran resists Red Bull juniors to win Italian F4 opener at Imola|url=https://formulascout.com/ugran-resists-red-bull-juniors-to-win-italian-f4-opener-at-imola/67199|access-date=2021-07-20|website=Formula Scout|language=en-GB}} The eight points Patterson scored through the first four races would unfortunately be his only points of the season, as the team struggled with reliability. Patterson ended up 22nd in the championship, behind all of his teammates. He finished 15th in the Rookies' standings.
