Dipus, meaning "two foot" in Ancient Greek, is a genus of jerboa. Today only a single species is usually recognized, the northern three-toed jerboa (Dipus sagitta), widespread throughout Central Asia. Some authors recognize a second species, the Qaidam three-toed jerboa (Dipus deasyi) from the Qaidam Basin of western China.{{cite journal |last1=Cheng |first1=Jilong |last2=Ge |first2=Deyan |last3=Xia |first3=Lin |last4=Wen |first4=Zhixin |last5=Zhang |first5=Qian |last6=Lu |first6=Liang |last7=Yang |first7=Qisen |title=Phylogeny and taxonomic reassessment of jerboa, Dipus (Rodentia, Dipodinae), in inland Asia |journal=Zoologica Scripta |date=2018 |volume=47 |issue=6 |pages=630–644 |doi=10.1111/zsc.12303 |s2cid=92269183 |url=https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/zsc.12303 |access-date=12 January 2024|url-access=subscription }} The genus has a fossil record that dates back to the Miocene, with several extinct species known from Asia.{{cite journal |last1=Zazhigin |first1=V. |last2=Lopatin |first2=A.V. |title=The History of the Dipodoidea (Rodentia, Mammalia) in the Miocene of Asia: 4.
