Dissochondrus, or false bristlegrass, is a genus of Hawaiian plants in the grass family.[http://www.kew.org/data/grasses-db/www/gen00198.htm Grassbase - The World Online Grass Flora]Clayton, W.D. & Snow, N. (2010). A key to Pacific Grasses: 1-107. Kew Publishing, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew The only known species is Dissochondrus biflorus.

Taxonomy

The species Dissochondrus biflorus was first described in 1888 by William Hillebrand as Setaria biflora. Hillebrand placed it in a new subgenus of Setaria, S. subg. Dissochondrus.{{Cite book |last=Hillebrand |first=Wilhelm B. |date=1888 |title=Flora of the Hawaiian Islands |page=503}} In 1897, Otto Kuntze elevated the subgenus to the full genus Dissochondrus with the sole species becoming Dissochondrus biflorus.
