Since its inception 362 awards have been made—which includes nine bars and one second bar—with the most recent being announced in the 2025 Australia Day Honours.{{cite web |title=Distinguished Service Medal |url=https://honours.pmc.gov.au/honours/search?awardName=Distinguished%20Service%20Medal |website=Australian Honours Search Facility |publisher=Australian Government |access-date=19 April 2025}}
