Plot

Juhi is an aging prostitute whose son Kaku requires a wheelchair. She finds it challenging to take care of him with the limited number of customers that now find her attractive. Debu, a not-so-successful lyricist, is dumped by his boyfriend, and is out on streets. These characters, in need of money and love, bump into each other, after which their lives take a similar direction. Their relationships, born out of mutual needs, change their perceptions about each other, which in turn brings a change in them—finally, a sunny day after days of merciless downpour.{{cite news |url=http://gapersblock.com/ac/2010/10/04/chicago-south-asian-film-festival-part-one |title='Chicago South Asian Film Festival, Part One' |date=4 October 2010 |work=Gapers Block |last=Amy Dittmeier |access-date=17 May 2011 |archive-date=21 August 2011 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110821165543/http://gapersblock.com/ac/2010/10/04/chicago-south-asian-film-festival-part-one/ |url-status=live }}

Gapers Block gave a moderate rating, calling the plot unoriginal, comparing it to an "elongated episode of Will & Grace". The representation of Debu, who is semi-closeted, was also criticised, for its stereotyped gay characteristics. Shoma A. Chatterji of The Citizen called the film "niche" while praising the performances of three principal characters stating, "But the cream and the cake go to the three actors".{{Cite web|url=https://www.thecitizen.in/index.php/en/NewsDetail/index/16/17745/Do-Paise-Ki-Dhoop-Too-Niche-to-Appeal-to-a-Mass-Audience|title=Do Paise Ki Dhoop… Too Niche to Appeal to a Mass Audience|first=Shoma A.|last=Chatterji|website=The Citizen|date=21 October 2019|access-date=18 January 2020|archive-date=23 October 2019|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20191023212238/https://www.thecitizen.in//index.php/en/newsdetail/index/16/17745/do-paise-ki-dhoop-too-niche-to-appeal-to-a-mass-audience|url-status=live}}
