The Dodge Sidewinder was a concept car shown by Dodge in 1997 at the SEMA convention{{cite web|title=Dodge Sidewinder Concept|date=16 December 2008 |url=http://jalopnik.com/5110951/dodge-sidewinder-concept|publisher=jalopnik.com|accessdate=2 December 2012}} in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was based on a design by Chrysler's Mark Allen,{{cite web|last=Killeen|first=Scott|title=1997 Dodge Sidewinder - Truck Trends|url=http://www.motortrend.com/features/archive/112_9702_1997_dodge_sidewinder/viewall.html|publisher=www.motortrend.com|accessdate=2 December 2012}} only two years after he graduated from design school. Officially called the Dodge Dakota Sidewinder, it used the front-mounted, Viper GTS-R engine to power the rear wheels, sitting on a chassis built by Riley & Scott. It was envisioned as the futuristic version of a Dodge Dakota convertible.

The Sidewinder's engine was rated at {{Convert|640|hp|kW|0|abbr=on}} and {{convert|530|lbft|Nm|0|abbr=on}} of torque, which allowed the car to hit {{Convert|60|mph|km/h|0|abbr=on}} in just under 4 seconds.
