The speedway team joined the league system in 1969{{cite news |url=https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000683/19690220/316/0030 |title=Coventry Juniors |website=Coventry Standard |date=20 February 1969 |via=British Newspaper Archive |url-access=subscription |access-date=5 December 2024 }} and spent both seasons in British League Division Two. In January 1971, the promotion made a successful application to transfer the speedway licence to the Birchfield Ladbroke Stadium.
