The dorsal trigeminal tract (also dorsal trigeminothalamic tract, or posterior trigeminothalamic tract) are uncrossed second-order sensory fibers conveying fine (discriminative) touch and pressure information from the dorsomedial division of principal sensory nucleus of trigeminal nerve to the ipsilateral ventral posteromedial nucleus of thalamus. Second-order fibers from the ventrolateral division of the principal sensory nucleus meanwhile cross-over to ascend contralaterally in the ventral trigeminal tract along with those fibers arising from the spinal trigeminal nucleus.{{Cite book |last=Patestas |first=Maria A. |title=A Textbook of Neuroanatomy |last2=Gartner |first2=Leslie P. |date= |publisher=Wiley-Blackwell |year=2016 |isbn=978-1-118-67746-9 |edition=2nd |location=Hoboken, New Jersey |pages=329}}
The DTT may be likened functionally to the medial lemniscus.{{Cite book |last=Siegel |first=Allan |title=Essential Neuroscience |last2=Sapru |first2=Hreday N. |last3=Siegel |first3=Heidi |date= |publisher=Wolters Kluwer Health |year=2015 |isbn=978-1-4511-8968-1 |edition=3rd |location=Philadelphia |pages=229}}
Trigeminal ganglion → first-order neurons → dorsomedial division of principal sensory nucleus of trigeminal nerve (in pons) (synapse) → second-order neurons → trigeminal lemniscus (in midbrain) → (ipsilateral) ventral posteromedial nucleus of the thalamus (synapse) → third-order neurons → sensory cortex of postcentral gyrus (synapse)
