Downham Fields
{{Short description|Park in South East London}}
Downham Fields is a 20-acre park{{Cite web|url=http://hidden-london.com/gazetteer/downham/|title=Downham - Hidden London|website=hidden-london.com|language=en-US|access-date=2017-07-09}} located in Downham, South East London. It is sometimes referred to in documents by the name Durham Hill,{{Cite web|url=http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/inmyarea/openspaces/parks/Pages/durham-hill.aspx|title=Durham Hill|last=web.communications@lewisham.gov.uk|first=London Borough of Lewisham, Web team|date=2011-11-01|website=www.lewisham.gov.uk|language=en-us|access-date=2017-07-09}} but this is not in common usage. It was left as parkland during the construction of the interwar Downham Estate because its steep hill made building difficult.{{Cite web|url=https://www.downhamonline.org.uk/downham/past.htm|title=Past|website=www.downhamonline.org.uk|access-date=2017-07-09}}
The park's height and west-facing slope provides views to Croydon, Crystal Palace and Sydenham.
Facilities
In 2007, part of the park was used to create [http://www.1life.co.uk/london-borough-of-lewisham/downham-health-leisure/home Downham Health and Leisure Centre], which includes a swimming pool, gym, GP surgery and library. The park also includes an outdoor play area for children.
