Abdel Azim Hammad ( born 1950) is an Egyptian journalist and editor. He has held several prominent editorial positions and is known for his political commentary and significant contributions to the Egyptian press.

Early life and education

Hammad was born in Egypt in 1950. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Cairo University.

Career

Hammad began his career in journalism in 1973, working as a political editor and commentator for Egyptian radio and television, October Magazine, and the daily newspaper Al-Ahram.

He later became:

Director of Al-Ahram International in Europe
Chief Correspondent for Al-Ahram in Central Europe
Managing Editor of Al-Shorouk
Managing Editor and eventually Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ahram

On 30 March 2011, he was officially appointed Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ahram. This followed an internal vote by Al-Ahram journalists held on 10 March 2011, where he received 130 out of 255 votes.
