Adrian was 60 years and 10 months old when he reached the summit of Shishapangma, his final 8,000m peak, making him the second-oldest person to complete all 14 eight-thousanders—behind Òscar Cadiach, who achieved the feat in 2017 at age 64. His success at an old age for mountaineering was made possible by a rigorous training and nutrition program, along with exceptional resilience and endurance.
