Arif Alnomay (Arabic: عارف النُمي; born 1970, Ibb, Yemen) is a Yemeni photographer and visual artist known for his conceptual documentary work that explores memory, identity, and cultural heritage. Early life and education
Alnomay was born in Ibb, Yemen, in 1970. He began his primary education at the age of twelve. In 1989, he moved to Saudi Arabia, where he worked in his grandfather's photography studio in Abha. This experience introduced him to the fundamentals of photography, including analog printing and coloring. He pursued education through distance learning with the American School (ISC), though language barriers posed challenges.
