Christina Chiu

Christina Chiu is a prize-winning Chinese-American author, educator, and designer. She is the winner of the [https://www.nebraskapress.unl.edu/search-results-grid/?series=une184-the-james-alan-mcpherson-prize-for-the-novel James Alan McPherson Award] for her novel [https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/53051811-beauty Beauty], which was also a Kirkus Reviews Best Book of 2020. She is also the author of a collection of linked stories, Troublemaker and Other Saints. Troublemaker was a nominee for a BOMC Stephen Crane First Fiction Award and winner of the Asian American Literary Award. She received her MFA from Columbia University. Chiu lives in New York City. =Early Life and Education=

Chiu grew up in Scarsdale, New York and attended Edgemont Junior – Senior High School, graduating in 1987. Portions of her short story collection, Troublemaker and Other Saints reflect her observations of Edgemont's atmosphere. = CAREER =

Chiu's second book, Beauty, was published in 2020 by Santa Fe Writers Project. The book follows Amy Wong, an up-and-coming fashion designer. Throughout the novel, Amy faces rival fashion designers and prejudice while also struggling with marriage and motherhood.
