Daniel Watton is a councillor currently serving as the 44th Mayor of Cessnock City, located in the heart of the Hunter Valley wine country, NSW. His October 1st 2024 election{{Cite web|url=https://www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/News/The-results-are-in-Elections-declared-for-Cessnock-LGA-Mayor-and-Councillors|title=Election results declared for Cessnock LGA Mayor and Councillors|website=www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au}} into role of mayor was labelled as a historic win, overcoming the long held safe Labor run council.
