Fingerpistol is an American country music band formed in Austin, Texas, in 2000. The band is known for its blend of traditional country covers and original songs, drawing influences from honky-tonk, Western swing, and the Bakersfield sound. They have been a fixture in the Austin music scene for over two decades and have garnered international attention through their album releases and reviews.

History

Fingerpistol was founded in 2000 by singer-songwriter Dan Hardick and bassist Sam Wilson. The band quickly established itself in the Austin honky-tonk scene, performing regularly at iconic venues such as the Broken Spoke,The White Horse, The Highball, Mercer Dancehall, and Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon. Their early years were marked by a dedication to classic country music, both through their covers and original compositions.

In 2008, Fingerpistol released the album "Young and Beautiful," which received critical acclaim from publications like The Austin Chronicle, Rebel Noise, and Reviewer Magazine. The album solidified their reputation as a prominent act in the Austin country music scene. The album was reviewed internationally.

In 2014 the band released "Stepped in it Again" which also recieved international reviews from publications based in the UK, and Germany.

Fingerpistol won the Austin Music Award for "Best Country/Bluegrass Band" three years in a row: 2014, 2015, and 2016.

Over the years, Fingerpistol has experienced lineup changes, with Dan Hardick remaining the central figure and songwriter. The current lineup includes singer-songwriter Dan Hardickl, singer-songwriter Mandy Prater on vocals, Landis Armstrong on guitar, Sam Wilson on bass, Andrew Nafziger on Pedal Steel and Andrew Gerfers on Drums. Past band members include Neil Flanz, Suzee Brooks, Meg Bodi, Bill Terry, and Jill Csekitz. The band continues to perform regularly in Austin, maintaining a strong local presence.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the band adapted by focusing on live video production, keeping their connection with their fanbase. As a result of their focus on video, singer Mandy Prater developed a large, international following on the Twitch music platform.
