IC 5117 is a young, compact planetary nebula located in the constellation Cygnus. It was discovered in 1905 by Scottish-American astronomer Williamina Fleming. It is distinguished by its small angular size of approximately 1.2 arcseconds, making it appear almost stellar when observed.{{Cite web |title=Planetary Nebula IC 5117 {{!}} Deep⋆Sky Corner |url=https://www.deepskycorner.ch/obj/ic5117.en.php?utm_source=chatgpt.com |access-date=2025-01-08 |website=www.deepskycorner.ch |language=en}}
