Biography
Jorge Fernando Jairoce (born 13 March 1981) is a Mozambican historian, academic, and public servant. He has held the position of Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Mozambique since 2020. From 2014 to 2020, he served as Director of the National Library of Mozambique. During this period, the library signed a cooperation agreement with the National Library of Brazil in 2016. Between 2022 and 2023, Jairoce chaired the Intergovernmental Committee of Senior Officials and Experts at the Economic Commission for Africa – Southern Africa Sub-office.https://www.bibliotecanacional.gov.mz/
Jairoce holds a PhD in History, specializing in Political-Institutional Relations, from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) in Brazil. He teaches in the Doctoral Program in African History at the Pedagogical University of Maputo and is an Associate Researcher at the Mandela Institute for Development Studies (MINDS) in Johannesburg, South Africa.https://www.minds.org.za/
