In his debut fight in June 2023, he defeated Joseph White with a first-round TKO, quickly making a name for himself in the heavyweight division. In August 2023, he followed that up with another first-round TKO victory over Ryan Shough, showing his ability to finish fights quickly.{{cite web |title=Leonardo Perdomo: The Rising Star of BKFC and What's Next |url=https://www.fightingyo.com/leonardo-perdomo-interview |access-date=2025-03-26}}

In a recent interview, Perdomo spoke about his rise in BKFC, stating, "Yo soy de Cien Fuegos y voy a traer fuego a la división" (I'm from Cienfuegos, and I'm going to bring fire to the division). He emphasized his desire to make a mark in the heavyweight division and stay active in the promotion, calling out other top fighters like Ben Rothwell and Mick Terrill.

Recognition in Cuba

Leonardo "El Zambo" Perdomo's rise in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) has gained attention both in Cuba and internationally. Originally from Cienfuegos, Cuba, Perdomo's success reflects the resilience and determination often associated with Cuban athletes.

His most recent victory—a 13-second knockout against former world boxing champion Steve Herelius marked a significant moment in his career. The event, held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel Casino in Hollywood, Florida was widely discussed, particularly in Cuba, where Perdomo is becoming a recognized name in combat sports. His performance also drew praise from BKFC co-owner Conor McGregor, who acknowledged Perdomo's skills during the post-fight press conference.

The 13-second knockout set the second-fastest knockout, making it a notable achievement for both Perdomo and his supporters. In response to the growing recognition, Perdomo expressed his connection to his Cuban roots: "I came from Cuba, I came from the fire, and I'm going to burn everyone in my path," highlighting his dedication to his career and aspirations.

Weigh-In Brawl

Tensions reached a boiling point between Leonardo Perdomo and Steve Herelius during the BKFC 70 weigh-in in Hollywood, Florida. Just before the main event fighters, Luis Palomino and Howard Davis, took to the scales, things got out of control between Perdomo and Herelius, who had already been involved in a growing rivalry.

The altercation escalated quickly as the two fighters exchanged heated words, with both sides attempting to intimidate each other. The face-off was so intense that it had to be broken up by officials and security, as the crowd watched in anticipation of the heated showdown that was about to take place in the ring.{{cite web |title=BKFC Weigh-In Brawl |url=https://www.bkfc.com/news/bkfc-70-weigh-in-rivalry-escalates |access-date=2025-03-27}}

The brawl at the weigh-in only fueled the anticipation for their upcoming fight, adding more drama to the already heated rivalry. Perdomo and Herelius's confrontation set the stage for the second-fastest knockout in BKFC history.{{cite web |title=The Cuban Leonardo "El Zambo" Perdomo's Impact and Historic Knockout |website=Cibercuba |date=March 29, 2025 |url=https://www.cibercuba.com/noticias/2025-03-29-u1-e199894-s27066-nid299836-cubano-leonardo-zambo-perdomo-logra-otro-nocaut |access-date=2 April 2025}}
