It is expected to be highly automated, have a high rate of fire for increased lethality, and have a large ammunition capacity.{{Cite web |last=Saballa |first=Joe |date=2025-01-06 |title=US Army Selects BAE Systems to Develop Multi-Domain Artillery Cannon |url=https://thedefensepost.com/2025/01/06/us-army-artillery-cannon/ |access-date=2025-04-09 |website=The Defense Post |language=en-US}} The MDAC will fire the Hypervelocity Projectile (HVP), also in development by BAE Systems.{{Cite web |last=Harper |first=Jon |date=2024-12-27 |title=Army to sole-source deal for hypervelocity projectiles, drone-killing artillery cannon |url=https://defensescoop.com/2024/12/27/army-hypervelocity-projectiles-hvp-multi-domain-artillery-cannon-mdac-bae/ |access-date=2025-04-09 |website=DefenseScoop |language=en-US}}
