Myth of Man is a 2025 American independent science fiction fantasy film written, directed, scored, and edited by Jamin Winans of Ink and The Frame. Produced by Kiowa K. Winans under Double Edge Films, the film is notable for its absence of spoken dialogue, relying instead on visual storytelling and an original musical score.{{cite web | url=https://soaringtwenties.substack.com/p/movie-recommendations-3-wordless?triedRedirect=true | title=Myth of Man | Soaring Twenties | website=Soaring Twenties | date=21 February 2025 }} The narrative follows Ella, a deaf-mute woman navigating a surreal city threatened by a mysterious red cloud. Plot
The film follows Ella, a young woman who cannot speak or hear, yet perceives signs and symbols in the world around her that others cannot. When she becomes convinced she has received a message from her creator, she embarks on a bold and mysterious quest to unite chosen individuals in a desperate effort to summon the creator’s return.{{cite web | url=http://nycmovieguru.com/jan24th25.html#mythofman | title=Myth of Man Review | website=NYC Movie Guru }}

Production
Myth of Man was largely financed by Winans and his wife by selling their house and moving to Budapest, Hungary where shooting commenced in the fall of 2019. After six weeks of shooting, the Winans had to shut down production due to difficulty with a lead cast member.{{cite web | url=https://www.onderhond.com/blog/jamin-winans-interview-myth-man | title=Jamin Winans Interview | website=Onderhond }} The couple then moved to rural Kentucky and built a 40ft x 96ft greenhouse as a "poor mans" green screen stage and started the production from the beginning again. The greenhouse barn let in diffused soft light akin to the early silent film era. This led to finishing 3,500 effects shots in post-production between just Jamin and Kiowa and the help of a rotoscoper in Brazil. The post-production took 3.5 years to complete.
Release
Myth of Man opened a limited theatrical release on January 24, 2025.{{cite web | url=https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/myth_of_man#cast-and-crew | title=Myth of Man | website=Rotten Tomatoes }} On March 25th, 2025, the film was made available on VOD and Blu-ray.{{cite web | url=https://www.onderhond.com/blog/myth-man-review-jamin-winans | title=Onderhond | website=Onderhond }}
Reception
Upon its release, Myth of Man received generally positive reviews from audiences and some independent film critics, though reactions varied. However, some critics noted that the abstract narrative structure and deliberate pacing might limit its appeal to broader audiences.{{cite web | url=https://letterboxd.com/film/myth-of-man/ | title=Myth of of Man on Letterboxed | website=Letterboxed }}
