Peter M. Lehrer (born January 9, 1942) is an American construction executive and consultant, known for co-founding Lehrer McGovern and leading major infrastructure and cultural redevelopment projects in the United States.
Early life and education
Lehrer was born in Brooklyn, New York, and attended Long Beach High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with honors from North Carolina State University in 1963.

In 1979, Lehrer co-founded Lehrer McGovern Inc. with Gene McGovern after leaving senior roles at Morse/Diesel Inc., a major U.S. construction management firm. Notable projects included the restoration of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the renovation of the New York State Theater at Lincoln Center, and the reconstruction of the American Stock Exchange trading floor without disrupting operations.

Lehrer later founded Lehrer LLC, a strategic consulting firm advising on major construction projects such as 15 Central Park West, Columbia University’s Manhattanville campus, and the Hudson Yards development. In 2018, Lehrer LLC merged with Cumming, a Los Angeles-based project management and cost consulting firm, forming Lehrer Cumming.
