Morone began his academic career as a researcher at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and later held positions at the University of Naples "L'Orientale" and the University of Foggia. Piergiuseppe Morone has been involved in both scientific governance and public policy. He served as an economic advisor to the Italian Minister of the Environment, Sergio Costa, from 2019 until 2021 and has been a member in various European Commission expert groups and national committees on sustainability, bioeconomy, and environmental transition.
In addition to his role as Vice-Chair of the CBE JU Scientific Committee, he is active in EU-funded projects including Horizon Europe, LIFE, and Erasmus+.
