Narinder Kumar Singh (31 October 1937 – 17 February 2021) was an author, and academic. He was known as the founder of Foundation for Organizational Research and Education School of Management, a business school in India. He also served as the Chairman of the International Airports Authority of India and contributed significantly to Eastern Cross-Cultural Management and institutional development.

Early Life and Education

Singh was born on 31 October 1937 in Lahore, British India.

  • He completed his Bachelor of Arts (Honors)University Medallist and Master of Arts in Psychology at the University of Delhi.
  • Fellow, National Institute of Personnel Management. Topped in the one-year Special Executive Development Programme of the Indian Institute of Public Administration.
  • He has lectured at McGill University, Montreal.
  • He has directed management seminars in Bangkok, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Brussels, Kathmandu, Dhaka, Jakarta and many other countries.
  • He was conferred Hony. Professorship by Morton Institute of Management, Brisbane, Australia.

The Tigri Experiment was an initiative led by Prof. N. K. Singh in the Tigri slum area of New Delhi, India. The Planning Commission setup a task force to study and develop appropriate self-managing organisations and delivery systems for integrated development at village, block and district levels. This project aimed to empower slum residents by involving them directly in the planning and implementing development activities, thereby fostering community ownership and sustainable development.
