In 2011, ProleteR released his debut album 'Curses From Past Times{{Citation |title=ProleteR - Curses From Past Times EP |date=2011 |url=https://www.discogs.com/master/1732175-ProleteR-Curses-From-Past-Times-EP |access-date=2025-04-09 |language=en}}'. The album gained significant international attention, establishing ProleteR as a "key figure{{Cite web |last=LadyDot04 |date=2025-03-17 |title=ProleteR – Temperamental Cats (Album) |url=https://electroswingthing.com/temperamental-cats/ |access-date=2025-04-07 |website=Electro Swing Thing |language=en-US}} in the community.

ProleteR was born on 20 October 1982 in Toulouse, to a French family, as the youngest of three brothers. While studying in the city, he got his first drum machine and started learning music production. After that he settled in Paris{{Cite web |title=ProleteR |url=https://www.starwaxmag.com/custom-page-detail/124910-proleter |access-date=2025-04-09 |website=www.starwaxmag.com}} for a few years to study Journalism in Levallois-Perret. Following that he moved back to Toulouse{{Cite web |title=ProleteR |url=https://www.starwaxmag.com/custom-page-detail/124910-proleter |access-date=2025-04-09 |website=www.starwaxmag.com}} and worked in a factory.

The name ProleteR is a play on the French word for 'proletarian' (prolétarien). In a 2013 interview,  ProleteR said: "I chose this name because I think it fits well myself and my current situation. I  didn't choose it because of its political meaning, only for its popular meaning here in France.
