Joseph’s career began in the 1990s in print journalism with a focus on media and business at such titles as Time Inc’s FYI and the trade weekly MediaWeek. She covered music and pop culture at Spin magazine in 1992, during the 1990s media recession. Joseph has described how her frustrations with print media’s downturn, its limitations and her experience with the earliest forms of digital publishing programs when she worked at Time Inc, served as the genesis for her work in digital media.
