Early life and education

Yao was born in China. During her childhood, she became interested in mathematics and computer science when her uncle, who was a member of a Chinese supercomputer research team, took her to the Galaxy-I supercomputer facility.

Career

Yao began her career in 2009 as a quantitative research analyst at Citadel LLC, where she joined the mid-frequency statistical arbitrage team.{{Cite web|url=https://informaconnect.com/emex-americas/speakers/renee-yao/ |title=Renee Yao}} Later, she joined the WorldQuant unit of Millennium Management, where she managed her own book. Later, she worked at HAP Capital.
