In the book *The History of the Development of Modern Ceramics in Taiwan*, his work is categorized as "avant-garde" and "culturally critical."

Shih’s artistic practice focuses on figurative expression through ceramics, incorporating various materials. By integrating symbols and architectural vocabulary, his work explores a cross-disciplinary dialogue between ceramic art and postmodern concepts, broadening the possibilities of material-based expression.
