Education and scientific activities
He is the author of scientific papers on the health care system and the work of the World Health Organization.
In 1985 he graduated from Yerevan State Medical University where he received a bachelor's degree in pharmacy.
In 1994, he graduated from the American University of Armenia and received a Master's degree in Business Administration.
In 1997, he earned a degree in Public Health from the American University of Armenia.
In 1998, he studied at the College of the Western Galilee (Israel), specializing in Health System Management.
Criminal prosecutions for violations of the law
On December 27, 2008, Deputy Minister of Health of Armenia Tatul Hakobyan participated in a drunken brawl in “Cactus” restaurant in Yerevan, during which he beat up former Deputy Minister of Energy Mels Hakobyan. In 2010, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan sharply criticized the Ministry of Health for alleged corruption schemes. In 2012, Tatul Hakobyan ran for a seat in the Armenian Parliament. However, he provided a false certificate stating that he had allegedly lived in Armenia for the last 5 years. At the same time, he had been living in Denmark for the last time and worked for the World Health Organization. Tatul Hakobyan ran for the position of European Regional Director of the World Health Organization in 2019.
