Plot

Swept by a hurricane into a magical and unknown world, Ellie and her new friends, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion, set off for the Emerald City in search of the Wizard who will grant their cherished wishes.

Cast

Ekaterina Chervova as Ellie Smith, a young girl from Kansas who is brought in the Magic Land by a hurricane. Her character is based on Dorothy Gale from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, with the Magic Land originally being the Land of Oz.

Denis Vlasenko as the voice of Totoshka, Ellie's dog, who talks when he arrives in the Magic Land.

Yuri Kolokolnikov as the Iron Lumberjack, a man of iron missing a heart.

Evgeniy Chumak as the Bogeyman, a living scarecrow missing a brain.

Arthur Vakha as the voice of the Cowardly Lion, a talking lion without courage.

Svetlana Khodchenkova as Bastinda, the Witch of Violet Land.

Vasilina Makovtseva as Gingema, the Witch of Blue Land.

Production

Plans to create a new adaptation of Alexander Volkov's The Wizard of the Emerald City emerged in April 2022, when the film project was presented to the Russian Minister of Culture. Igor Voloshin was tired as the director, and production was undertaken by Central Partnership, in collaboration with Kinoslovo, the production company of Russian producer Petr Anurov.
