Draft:UNSW FC

The University of New South Wales Football Club was formed in 1948, under the then Sydney Technical College Sports Association. The Football Club has a rich heritage, competing at the highest levels in Football New South Wales (FNSW) Federation and State League competitions since 1959.

UNSW FC proudly fields teams in the NPL NSW Women’s League (First grade and Reserve Grade) and Girls Youth League 1 (U14-u18) competitions. We also field men's teams in the Football NSW Men’s League 1 (First grade and U20) competition as well as the Boys Youth League 3 competition (u13-u18).

We also field teams in the local Eastern Suburbs Football Association (ESFA) competition which is geared towards a more social appreciation of the sport. From All age mens div 1 to div 8.

UNSW FC is based at The Village Green within UNSW Kensington and the David Phillips Sports Complex in Daceyville. {https://www.unswfc.com.au/about}

For the 2020 season, UNSW FC were accepted into NPL 2 youth league and their senior state league teams were accepted into NPL 4 mens.

In 2021, BYL and Seniors were again in NPL 2 youth and NPL 4 mens.

In 2022, BYL were in FNSW Boys Youth League Three and Mens were in FNSW League Three Mens.

In 2023, BYL were in FNSW Boys Youth League three and mens were in FNSW League Two Mens, with the Mens First Grade finishing 1st as champions of FNSW League Two Mens and securing promotion to FNSW League one Mens which was a huge achievement and a massive turning point for the club, a club with great ambitions to then go one league further into the NPL NSW

In 2024, BYL again in FNSW Boys Youth League Three, and Mens in FNSW League one Mens.

In 2025, BYL again in FNSW Boys Youth League Three and Mens again in FNSW League one Mens.

'The Uni Derby'

Tensions are high between these two being the two Univeristy Football teams compeitng in FNSW competitions.

Each year since the 1960s the Mens First Grade have competed against each other for the 'Kennard Cup', as of now UNSW hold the trophy (2025)

Additionally, the U20s have competed now for several years for the 'Colosi cup', as of now UNSW hold the trophy (2025)

'The Eastern Suburbs Derby'

Since UNSW got promoted to the FNSW League one Mens from 2024, their as been significant rivaly when playing Hakoah with many of the boys knowing each other, and funny enough even UNSW First grade Player Kaden Sharpley and UNSW U20s player Ethan Sharpley both being the sons of Hakoah first grade Coach Craig Sharpley.

2024 saw UNSW winning 2-0 at home and 3-2 away, whilst 2025 has seen UNSW win 4-0 at home.
