Notability
Hi @Humphrey.Mulberry, per your note at the AfC help desk, please provide three (and only three) sources that each meet the folllowing four citeria: reliable, independent (unaffiliated with Jsky, not what he has written or said, etc.), secondary and has in-depth coverage about him (around 12 sentences or so). At least, one of them needs to be outside the Manchester area. You can just give me the footnote numbers. S0091 (talk) 16:54, 29 August 2023 (UTC)
:Dear @S0091
:Thank you for your reply.
:Please see references 1, 5, and 7.
:Ref 1 & 5 are by the Manchester Evening News which is one of the UK's largest print newspapers. The articles are detailed studies about Jsky rather than making a passing mention of him in around 12 sentences in each case. As a newspaper, it qualifies as a reliable, independent, secondary source.
:Ref 7 is by Attitude Magazine which is not Manchester based, it is published globally. As a global magazine it qualifies as a reliable, independent, secondary source.
:I appreciate your help and support which I have fully embraced and hope you can now approve. I have looked at the other presenters of BBC Radio Manchester and their pages are fully less qualifying so my intention will be to help improve those pages going forward and continue to be a helpful member of our Wikipedia community.
:Kind regards... Humphrey.Mulberry (talk) 16:59, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
::'#1 is solid, but #5 is mostly what he says or about the show rather than him. Also, per WP:GNG sources by the same publication count as a single source. In this particular instance, they were also written by the same person. Apologies I did not specifically call that out before but to be fair I did check ProQuest to see if there were any other sources, perhaps behind a paywall, but came up empty once I excluded tabloids and Manchester Evening News. #7 is tagged as "Promotional" so it is not independent and it is clear it is a promotional puff piece written largely (if not entirely) by Sheekie, ("We started Sheekie to bring back the spark to the LGBT+ community."...). So out of the three, there is one source that contributes to notability which is a start but still need a couple more. My experience tells me this is likely as case of "too soon", meaning he might be able to meet Wikipedia's notability criteria one day but not yet. S0091 (talk) 18:17, 30 August 2023 (UTC)
:::Hello again! After waiting for more media to be published, I have now added additional sources to evidence the notoriety of Jsky. They are:
::: #1 "Who Is Jsky?". Manchester Evening News.
::: #3 Bury Pride headliner lands own BBC show". Bury Times.
::: #7 BBC star Jsky featured in new Bolton Museum exhibition". The Bolton News.
:::These are all UK print newspapers with dedicated articles specifically about "Jsky", who he is, what he has achieved.
:::The important reference is #7. The British Culture Archive has now recognised Jsky as being fundamentally part of and shaping British Culture yet he still doesn't have recognision on Wikipedia. There is inconsistency here I am hoping to correct. He definitely now deserves a page please. Humphrey.Mulberry (talk) 13:23, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
::::Hi @Humphrey.Mulberry I have added a template which allows you to resubmit it for review so click the "Submit for review" button and another reviewer will take look. S0091 (talk) 15:32, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
:::::Thank you. I have now found the submit button and have submitted. I really appreciate your help. Humphrey.Mulberry (talk) 15:48, 1 April 2025 (UTC)
