KNB EFX Group back again, [https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/walking-deads-greg-nicotero-named-creature-designer-spawn-movie-1138295 they worked on the 1997 film too]. -- 109.76.196.225 (talk) 19:23, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
Can you provide a citation from a reliable website (NOT IMDb) that proves your claim? If you can, you may add the info to the development paragraphs. Cardei012597 (talk) 23:45, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
: Maybe you missed it but I already linked to a 2018 article from [https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/walking-deads-greg-nicotero-named-creature-designer-spawn-movie-1138295 The Hollywood reporter] that said they were joining the project and that they had wored on the 1997 film. I found it while looking for details about the 1997 film, I try to improve the article for that film. I'll leave this one to you. -- 109.78.244.26 (talk) 21:50, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
Superhero film?
Why does the article call it a superhero film? Most of the sources and Todd McFarlane himself are outright saying that this is not a traditional comic book movie, but a full-on horror movie inspired by John Carpenter and The Grudge. Spawn won't even have the ability talk. There's a reason why the film went back into development after Joker was a success (and why Blumhouse was interested in the first place). Calling it a "superhero film" assumes that it's a straight adaptation of the comic, which it really isn't. DarkKnight2149 15:59, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
: Fair enough, the film does sound like a straight forward horror film that just happens to be based on comics. Cardei012597 (talk) 16:09, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
For those wondering, here's one of the major interviews that McFarlane gave for the film: https://deadline.com/2018/05/spawn-jamie-foxx-todd-mcfarlane-jason-blum-blumhouse-movie-1202399090/amp/
There are other sources in the article. Of course, if something changes or McFarlane is forced to make concessions to have the film produced, we can always re-add "superhero film". But for the last few years or so, McFarlane has been building it up as a $10-20 million horror film inspired by films like The Grudge, Ringu, and The Thing, with Spawn depicted as a "silent monster"-type character. : Ok, thank you for the major interview. Cardei012597 (talk) 21:37, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
I feel like superhero is a significant aspect of it that it needs to be noted. Unbreakable (2000) is very much unlike many superhero films but it's listed as a "superhero thriller". Also, Spawn himself is pretty much confirmed to be using his powers against evil, making him fit that superhero quota, despite it being executed in a horror-monster route. If you want, we can put a footnote on the genre explaining how its leans more horror, but I feel the "superhero" part should be in the open. IAmNMFlores (talk) 21:12, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
filming?
so on Instagram they've teased Spawn himself, and it looks as though they've been filming.
can anyone get a verifiable source? 199.187.202.43 (talk) 19:35, 10 May 2025 (UTC)
