Driebergen is a former village and municipality in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It is first mentioned as Thriberghen in 1159.Hans Sleeuwenhoek en Henk Jan Derksen, "van boerengehucht tot forensendorp",De Stichtse/Drukkerij De Jong,2009. {{cite web|url=http://www.driebergsdorpsfeest.nl/van-boerengehucht-tot-forensendorp/2 |title=Aflevering 02: Over heren, boeren en de schapen - Driebergs Dorpsfeest |accessdate=2014-04-29 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140429204108/http://www.driebergsdorpsfeest.nl/van-boerengehucht-tot-forensendorp/2 |archivedate=2014-04-29 }} The former municipality of Driebergen existed until 1931, when it merged with Rijsenburg, to create the new municipality of Driebergen-Rijsenburg.Ad van der Meer and Onno Boonstra, "Repertorium van Nederlandse gemeenten", KNAW, 2006. {{cite web|url=http://www.knaw.nl/cfdata/publicaties/detail.cfm?boeken__ordernr%3D20061061 |title=KNAW > Publicaties > Detailpagina |accessdate=2009-12-03 |url-status=dead |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20070220041404/http://www.knaw.nl/cfdata/publicaties/detail.cfm?boeken__ordernr=20061061 |archivedate=2007-02-20 }}

In later years, due to growth of the villages of Driebergen and Rijsenburg, the villages themselves also merged, to become the single town of Driebergen-Rijsenburg.

Since 2006, Driebergen-Rijsenburg has been part of the new municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Driebergen-Rijsenburg also houses the Driebergen Forest and Rijsenburg Forest in which the {{ill|Heidetuin|nl|Heidetuin (Driebergen-Rijsenburg)}} ('heather garden') is also located.
